You want the "ATV Trail Funding" Legislation Passed in 2000!
FACT: There is no State Trail System nor funding program for public off-highway recreational vehicle trails in New York State. With your help, NYSORVA is fighting to change this situation.
ATV Trail Funding Legislation was re-introduced for the 1999-2000 session in both houses of the NYS Legislature. Assembly Bill A.1060 and Senate Bill S.632-B are written to re-establish the ATV Trail Fund, which was abolished several years back. The state continues to this day to require registration by law and to collect registration fees from ATV and trail motorcycle owners but provides no services or facilities in return.
Use this site to generate and send letters to your State Senator and Assembly Member letting them know how you feel about this issue.
For a detailed description of the content the proposed legislation and explanations of why the bills are necessary, link to http://www.nysorva.org/legislation.
Why is this so important now? With the 2000 Legislative Session coming up, your action is requested in contacting your state representatives as soon as possible. Timing is everything, and these bills must get priority status early on if they are to come to a vote this year. Furthermore, the bill sponsors won't move the bills forward if they don't get strong encouragement from the public. Your letters will cause your representatives to move this issue to the top of the pile if everyone chips in now! These bills have been floating around in one form or another for 6 years, and with the growing interest in OHM/ATV recreation, it's high time that they get passed into law!
