1) 6/8 Week-ending brief on
the Trail Funding Bills
I'm pleased to inform you
that the TF bills A.8781/S.4922 have made it to the farthest point in the legislative
process than ever since their first introduction in 1993. Both Senate &
Assembly versions of the bill have been favorably reported this past week from
the Tourism Committees in each House. But we are not yet out of the woods. The
bills must be favorably reported from Finance Committees in each House and
potentially another committee before they can get to the floor for a final
vote. Since June 20 is the end date for regular business to be transpired in
the Legislature, we are precariously close and all the efforts that can be
mustered to keep the process moving will be necessary to get the bills passed
before that day comes.
Between NYSORVA, Clubs, and
the American Motorcyclist Association, approximately 10,000 advocacy postcard
sheets have been circulated, and if you received a copy please get your cards
mailed ASAP as we have maybe 5 business days for our messages to the
Legislature to be effective in moving the bills before the Legislature retires
for the year.
For more info on the bills
